Trans Flag.jpg

As the leading funder of emerging needs in the Greater Philadelphia LGBTQ community, DVLF is committed to serving the trans Community. The trans community face alarmingly high rates of poverty and homelessness, struggle with considerable health disparities, and experience systemic marginalization. We believe that philanthropy can and must take the opportunity do more to improve the well-being of the trans community in this time of immense need.

DVLF is one of the inaugural signatory grantmaking organizations of the Grantmakers United for Transgender Communities (GUTC) pledge, an initiative led by the Funders for LGBTQ Issues.

As a Grantmaker Committed to the Wellbeing of Transgender Communities in the United States, We Pledge to:

1. Participate in trainings and professional development opportunities focused on supporting trans communities;

2. Improve our recruitment and retention of trans and gender non-conforming staff and board members;

3. Increase our grantmaking for trans communities, with a commitment to trans-led organizations; and

4. Publicly express our support for and solidarity with trans communities.
