Mission

DVLF serves the Greater Philadelphia LGBTQ+ community through philanthropy, fostering positive change by raising and distributing funds that support the evolving needs of LGBTQ+ people and organizations.

Vision

DVLF envisions a future in which every qualified grant proposal from Greater Philadelphia LGBTQ+ organizations can be fully funded. By building a sustainable endowment, DVLF ensures lasting support and impact for the community.

What We Do

​

Grantmaking

​

DVLF awards annual grants to nonprofits addressing frontline needs in the LGBTQ+ community, including legal rights, health and social services, arts and culture, and community development. These grants are funded through ongoing fundraising and endowment income.

Scholarships

​

DVLF administers scholarships that support LGBTQ+ students and emerging leaders. Examples

include the Kay Longcope Scholarship and the IBA Business Scholarship, which support

students in journalism, business, law, and other leadership fields.

Signature Events

 

• TOY – DVLF’s premier holiday fundraiser and community celebration supporting grants and scholarships.

 

• Our Night Out – Monthly social networking events that connect the community while raising funds.

Legacy Giving vs. Yearly Grants

 

Legacy Giving

​

Planned or deferred gifts made through wills, trusts, or other estate planning tools. Legacy gifts build DVLF’s permanent endowment, providing long-term, sustainable support for the community.

Yearly Grants

​

Funded by current donations and available endowment income, the annual grant cycle provides immediate funding to nonprofits serving Greater Philadelphia’s LGBTQ+ community, supporting urgent and emerging needs.
