Rainbow Fund of Bucks County

The Rainbow Fund of Bucks County, a
newly established fund administered by the Delaware Valley Legacy Fund,
seeks to improve the quality of life for the Bucks County LGBTQ
community
through grantmaking targeting to meet existing service gaps. Governed
by a steering committee comprised of local LGBTQ citizens, the Rainbow
Fund brings together local expertise and resources in order to identify
and meet outstanding community needs.
After a series of surveys and focus
groups, the Rainbow Fund is proud to have produced a Community Scan,
which we hope might serve to prioritize our community’s response to
cultural and service gaps. You can access our report here,
as well as an executive summary thereof.
In conjunction with this report, the
Rainbow Fund is offering grants of up to $2000 for local community
organizations
to address the needs highlighted by this scan—chief among which is
improving conditions for local LGBTQ youth.

Built to Last
Even as we live in “gay-friendly” Bucks County, the needs of our community require active involvement, leadership, and investment by LGBT people and heterosexual allies alike. While our community enjoys more support and inclusion than ever before, uniquely LGBT issues continue to demand unique and creative solutions and funding – whether it be homelessness among LGBT teens, disparities in healthcare, issues affecting LGBT senior citizens or financial and estate planning issues intensified by the inequalities faced by LGBT people under state and federal law, among others. And as these and other issues of today are addressed, future generations will certainly face issues unique to the LGBT community that will require the same creative solutions and funding. We can, and must, do something about that today.
Rainbow Fund of Bucks County: Administered by the Delaware Valley Legacy Fund, the Rainbow Fund of Bucks County seeks to provide leadership and funding to improve the quality of life for the Bucks County LGBT community through grantmaking and promoting philanthropy. Governed by a steering committee comprised of LGBT people and heterosexual allies who live and work in Bucks County, the fund brings local expertise and local funding to meet local needs. The Rainbow Fund of Bucks County will grow to be permanently endowed to ensure that it benefits the local LGBT community in perpetuity.
The Delaware Valley Legacy Fund: The Delaware Valley Legacy Fund (“DVLF”) strives to increase philanthropy and grantmaking to support the community needs of the LGBT and straight-allied communities of Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware through endowment building, fundraising, community outreach and education. Founded in 1993, the DVLF has been greatly enhanced by its relationship with The Philadelphia Foundation.
