Fellow Job Description

General Duties:  
- Work closely with the Executive Director and other DVLF colleagues on high priority projects such as: fundraising, grant writing for DVLF, grant making to local non-profits, community outreach, analysis of the needs of the LGBT community, non-profit technical assistance, special event planning;
- Research;
- Coordinate volunteer efforts;
- Expand the database through research and data entry;
- Other administrative and management duties as assigned; and
- Shadow Executive Director and/or TPF program staff when consulting LGBT-serving organizations


Projects:
Fellows may work on one or more of the following projects:

1. Assist and attend trainings given by the Professional Advisors Network in financial planning and planned giving for community members, local organizations, and corporate employees;
2. Development of educational programs for the Regional Funders Network, a group of 600 regional funders of LGBTI issues and organizations;
3. Opportunities to attend other workshops and training that relate to the focus of DVLF;
4. Coordinate the community outreach survey and meetings with organizational leaders;
5. Staff-assist the fundraising/“friend-raising” and the community outreach/grant making committees.

Requirements:
- Must be available for a minimum of 10 to 15 hours per week on a regular basis;
- Must abide by confidentiality policies regarding donor and proprietary information;
- Professional phone manner and interest in working with diverse constituencies, including the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender communities;
- Ability to learn or manage mailings and group emailings to constituencies;
- Knowledge of Microsoft Windows; and,
- Must be goal-oriented and available during Monday to Friday hours from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

  • Work to increase the revenue generated by grants, sponsorships, and individual donors

  • Straight Allies Initiative 
  • Grant Writing

Harvey Milk Fellow, past responsibilities include:

  • Grant-research, development, and applications 
  • Support in fundraising communication and DVLF infrastructure development, including streamlining data collection & analysis

Racial Equity Initiative Fellow, past responsibilities include:

  • Oversee the Racial Equity Initiative, keeping in contact with all of the LGBT of color serving organizations, surveying their needs. 
  • Serve as a support to the Outreach and Grantmaking Committee.

Barbara Gitting Fellow, past responsibilities include:

  • Research and write grant applications to help fund the Delaware Valley Legacy Fund's Racial Equity and People of Faith Initiatives.
  • Write up reports on DVLF's grantmaking, fundraising and community outreach and education.
