What is DVLF?  DVLF Builds Community by Advancing Philanthropy

Legacy Initiative

How would you like to leave a legacy?

Important components of any legacy include careful advance planning and preparation of documents related to the distribution of assets.  These often difficult decisions are of great importance not only for ourselves but also for our loved ones and our communities.  Bequest gifts at the time of our passing are often our most generous and stand as lasting expressions of our values and work

The Delaware Valley Legacy Fund seeks to safeguard the financial well-being and legal rights of individuals, couples and families within the LGBT community and to promote philanthropy to support the groups and organizations that serve our community.    Through our endowment at the Philadelphia Foundation, we seek to build community through philanthropy.  Gifts to the endowment provide funding in perpetuity to support organizations striving to advance equal rights and meet the needs of the LGBT community.

At a time of evolving legal and financial recognition of the special concerns of the LGBT people, it’s important to be informed.  Our current services and activities include:

• A referral list of legal and financial advisers familiar with the needs of our community.  Please see:

Professional Advisors Directory
   DVLF Professional Resource Guide
• Seminars and workshops on estate planning, planned giving, LGBT family law, financial planning, and related topics.
• Collaborations with community organizations seeking to encourage philanthropy through estate planning and bequest gifts.
• Recognition of philanthropic individuals who have completed estate plans with bequests to the Delaware Valley Legacy Fund’s endowment through membership in our Legacy Society.

Please contact us with regard to your individual concerns.  We are pleased to help or assist with referrals.  If your group or organization is interested in specially tailored programs related to estate planning, writing wills and advance directives, or evolving legal issues related to the LGBT community, we would welcome the opportunity to work with your organization.
