What is DVLF?  DVLF Builds Community by Advancing Philanthropy

Welcome!

DVLF Builds Community by Advancing Philanthropy. DVLF's mission is to raise the endowment and increase grantmaking for the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender (LGBT) and straight-allied communities. DVLF supports community organizations through technical assistance and strategic planning, convenes planned giving training to legal and financial professionals, and manages a program to protect LGBT families and their assets while assisting them in estate planning and the adoption process.

Stara to service as co-interim execuive director

Michael F. Stara temporarily stepped down as Treasurer of the Delaware Valley Legacy Fund (DVLF) Board of Directors in order to serve alongside Ms. Sandra Thompson as Co-Interim Executive Director of DVLF.  Michael is replacing Chris Bartlett, who accepted the Executive Director position of the William Way Community Center.

We are extremely proud and grateful that one of our Board Members has shown the commitment to step up and serve in this critical transition period. Michael also plays a significant role as the National Search Committee enters its final stages and the Board of Directors nears the point of naming the new permanent Executive Director.  Moreover, Michael will be instrumental in assisting the new Executive Director in transitioning into the position, making it smooth and seamless.

In addition to his service to DVLF, Michael is President of East Coast Consulting Group, a firm specializing in credit training and market research for financial service and other clients.  As a CPA, he previously held a number of positions at Mellon Bank, NA and was on the professional staff of Ernst and Young.

As Pennsylvania State Chairman of Log Cabin Republicans, a member of the All Families Coalition, Michael lobbied members of the state legislature about a variety of issues, including hate crimes and gay marriage.  He has been asked by David Oh, candidate for City Council-at-Large, to be a member of his steering committee.   Michael was also past President of the Philadelphia Chapter of the American Marketing Association.

Having Board Members such as Michael Stara as part of the organization is exactly why DVLF has remained steadfast and strong throughout the Executive Director transition.  On behalf of DVLF, I express my gratitude to Michael for his dedication to our community and the mission of DVLF.
