Fulfilling Fiscal Responsibility
The Delaware Valley Legacy Fund (DVLF) is an independent 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization that has established an endowment with The Philadelphia Foundation, which provides integrity to DVLF's management.
DVLF is a community foundation focused on building community assets while providing technical assistance to nonprofit organizations, as well as providing education and outreach, grants, and scholarships that serve the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender (LGBT) and allied communities. DVLF’s LGBT community endowment includes permanently allocated assets for organizational endowments. The overall community endowment, currently held under management, is approximately $750,000 and rising each month, thanks to the generosity of donors and the success of the Colonial Consulting Group’s oversight of the assets held at The Philadelphia Foundation.
Donors can rely on the integrity and the Fund’s investment performance with regard to their charitable intentions. DVLF was created to last so that the community can build and to sustain the organizations that address the issues and programs important to the LGBT and allied communities.
The Philadelphia Foundation, established in 1918, is the third oldest and among the largest community foundations in the country, with assets exceeding $350 million. The Philadelphia Foundation develops, manages, and allocates community resources in partnership with donors and grantees, to build on community resources, and to promote empowerment, leadership, and civic participation among underserved groups.
The Philadelphia Foundation practices and encourages diversity, equality and inclusiveness as fundamental values of community life. These operational values and organizational goals make The Philadelphia Foundation an appropriate and valuable home for our endowment fund.
Managing With Integrity
The DVLF is under a contract to keep partnered with The Philadelphia Foundation to provide assurance to the donor community regarding both the integrity of the funds managed and to assist with accounting and reporting for the endowment. The Philadelphia Foundation also serves to provide a valuable connection to the established funding community.
